The US navy camo was worn in port. And it really hid the paint and grease that got on them pretty well. So if you got alittle bit on you (which happened a lot) you didn’t have to go buy new ones.

Digital camo works because our brains sort of ignore uncommon shapes like squares in nature. If you looked into a patch of grass and there was someone wearing proper digital they’d be unnoticeable

pretty sure they've discontinued that pattern a couple of years ago, saw some footage of PLA marines from like 2019 and they were wearing something woodland digital

It’s crazy kinda how fast they got rid of this camo to replace but they still use this camo on their ocean to ground units
