@fablefulart: Took me an embarrassingly long time to acknowledge i do not, in any way, look white, and do in fact, look Asian. It’s the cultural effects of growing up in media where eurocentric features were “the goal” and my asian features were a side step to that. I’m also Southeast Asian (Filipino), so my skin naturally gets darker in the sun and pale in the winter. My bio mother is also Filipino with darker skin than mine, and she once saw a photo of me with darker skin bc i was visiting the Philippines. She laughed at how i looked like i “belong in a prison.” For the longest time, i genuinly thought my pear shaped nose was white passing and my partner was like, “?? No…” I’ve learned to love my fetaures more for sure, but it definitely took years to undo, and am still undoing.
