in the UK we seem to have a polling station in every school, scout hall, and community centre across the land! Queuing to vote seems wild.

As a foreigner watching the US elections this makes sense, but what I can't understand is the popular vote doesn't decide who the winner is. That blows my mind. I don't get the electoral process

It took me almost 2hrs to vote in my city...and I got there before the doors opened. I have never waited longer than 15mins before.

i never knew that. I never kept up with politics. I'd just go vote for the least evil, so this year I've been watching a political map thingy and their all red. this has calmed my anxiety down. ty

In Canada we have a nationwide impartial body responsible for federal elections & voting stations are everywhere in schools, churches, halls etc. Easy to vote quickly & no hassle, no long lines.

Don’t they at least have a count of how many total votes they have to count? Couldn’t they put up a meter of what percent of votes cast have been counted/ left to count?

The idea of less booths in liberal districts is so true! When I lived with my parents, I budgeted an hour to vote. Now that I live with my husband, it takes 20 minutes
