@christophernowinski: For the first time in decades, we're recognizing a new concussion sign that could identify up to 33% of undiagnosed concussions! Do you know about SHAAKE? You've probably noticed it on TV or even done it yourself. It's the motion you often see after a hit to the head, when someone quickly shakes their head back and forth. I decided to study and name it to help keep more athletes safe. Right now, it does not appear on any medical or sports organization’s list of potential concussion signs. Our new study says it should. For more details, head to bit.ly/SHAAKE #concussion #TBI #NFL #football #tuatagovailoa #SHAAKE
It’s wild how much our bodies will tell us if we listen.

This is so validating. I got a concussion, we caught it on camera, and I kept being told I was fine. I was NOT fine. I just watched it back, I did the shake, multiple times, over weeks.

We (southern Appalachia) always heard it as "getting your bell rung" and I always thought it came from that motion!

Shaake is seen in animals and birds as well, which means this is a very primal evolution. likely as a way to reorient oneself physically, but can be triggered by most disorienting feelings.

Called it “shake the cobwebs out”. It was always a sign that someone had gotten their bell rung…and at that point I was checking in on them (ATC)

I feel like the problem is I and other people I know just do this sometimes? I get if it happens right after a big hit then it's definitely a sign, but its also a common regular old tremor.
