Homestead residents Arnelle Arnelia Floyd and Nathan Richard Allen, both 24, face first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse charges after the death of Nalani Adalee Allen, according to Miami-Dade County jail records. The child was brought to the hospital by her parents in the afternoon of May 12, she was unresponsive and in cardiac arrest with no pulse. The child’s X-ray showed several fractured ribs and multiple bruises on her torso. The fractures and bruises were consistent with injuries typically seen in child neglect and child abuse cases, the report said. The parents said she had not been injured in a fall during interviews with Miami-Dade Police homicide detectives. Floyd also told detectives the child was in good health and didn’t have any medical conditions. The autopsy report revealed the child had fresh contusions, internal bleeding, large lacerations to internal organs and blunt force injuries. The manner of death was ruled a homicide. Floyd told detectives she placed the baby on her and Nathan Allen’s bed the night before. She left the house the next morning while they were sleeping. A little later in the day, Floyd received texts from Nathan Allen about the child’s wellbeing, so she returned home. She said the child was unresponsive when she arrived back at the house. Several instances of domestic violence had been reported at the residence, according to officials. Neighbors told police the couple was violent and threw people into walls or objects. Nalani Allen had a visit with a pediatrician two days before her death.
