@catholicclarity4: *PLEASE READ* St. José Luis Sánchez del Río (March 28, 1913 – February 10, 1928) was a Mexican Cristero who was put to death by government officials because he refused to renounce his Catholic faith. In prison, José prayed the Rosary daily and wrote an emotional letter to his mother, saying that he was ready to fulfill the will of God to whom he dedicated himself. He was offered: "If you shout 'Death to Christ the King', we will spare you." But José shouted: "Viva Cristo Rey! Viva la Virgen de Guadalupe!" At the Sahuayo cemetery, they tried once again to persuade him to apostasize, but to no avail. The executioners riddled his battered body with bayonet stabs. With each stab, the boy shouted louder: "Viva Cristo Rey!" He was then shot in the head.
