1)It's not uncommon to hold on to anything of them even if it's something others don't understand. My daughter's bf was shot and killed and she keeps the tissue she used to wipe blood from her hands

this is healing, you feel how you feel and if it brought you comfort when you needed it then it wasn't just dirt, if it now brings you sorrow then it's just dirt again and can be treated as such.

My best friend died in a car crash due to black ice. I have the speedometer gauge from her car that I found cleaning up road. I didn’t want her son to see car parts all over on the side of the road.

Grief is so weird. For months after my mom passed, I would obsessively watch every video of her and constantly be looking at photos of her. Now, 15 months later, I simply can’t. It hurts too much.
