It's time again. Garlic planting 🧄Garlic is one of my fave crops to grow. Easy to care for and gives a lot, provides the best smell, and makes food taste so good 😁 and you know I can talk about garlic all day. This year I am growing 6 varieties of hardneck and unknown softneck garlic varieties. 🧄I also tried something different on how to grow garlic this year by soaking the cloves in liquid fertilizer, baking soda, and water—I soaked the garlic for 18 hrs. It's not mandatory, but I would like to give it a go. I don't have kelp liquid fertilizer, so I use organic liquid fertilizer from @agrothrive ; but let me tell you, some cloves have produced some lovely roots already. 🧄Growing garlic in a warmer zone for hardneck can be a bit tricky because we have a mild winter. Garlic requires Vernalization or experiencing the cold. The chilling process will help garlic to perform a nice healthy bulb later. I even vernalized my soft neck garlic; I did it every year. 🧄I put mine in the grocery mesh bag, or you can put them in the paper bag and let it chill in the fridge for 3-4 weeks. I would chill them longer, but I want the garlic to be planted and get it out of the way so I can rest. Garlic can be planted in October- January in a warmer zone.
