July 13th- Tonight we ended up in the hospital. 😢 Lola was running warm 99s all day and the evening prior, but she never got to 100 until 8pm this night. She was still her normal sassy self. I checked again and when the thermometer read 100.5, I called the oncologist right away. He stated that since she had been running warm all day and actually went to 100.5 that we needed to take her in to be admitted. We packed our bags, the girls bags, and headed over to my parents house to drop off Klaira. Lola of course had a hard time saying goodbye to Klaira. She wanted to help me drop her off, but I knew once she was inside her grandma and grandpa’s she’d never want to leave. Luckily my dad (Yawm Yawm) came out to say hi and comfort her. He’s her favorite. When we got to the hospital we were assigned the smallest room because all the positive pressure rooms were taken. Given that she is neutropenic (has no immunity) we needed to stay in a positive pressure room so every time someone came in, the air & germs from the outside would be pushed out and kept away from Lola. After we got settled down and finished accessing her port, her temp jumped to 102 and antibiotics and Tylenol were immediately given. I’m so glad I followed my momma instinct again. We were wishy washy on wanting to take her in because after we talked to the oncologist from the initial 100.5, she went back down to 98.9. But seeing that she jumped to the 102s when we got here, it reassured me once again that we did the right thing and we were right where we needed to be. It’s still scary and frustrating seeing your baby lying on a large hospital bed. It’s an image that no parent ever gets used to, but if we aren’t strong for them, who will be?
