my sun conure eventually figured out it was OK to chew on his perches, which really helped his beak, and now I'll gladly buy new ones regularly to help keep it under control.

hmm, I'll have to try that with my parakeets. they have certain toys they love and so far the toys I got from bird tricks they haven't touched. gave them a straw toy, it was shredded in a couple days.

I used to put the toys outside so they get the feel of it otherwise it stressed them if put immediately into the cage

Do birds (even of the same species) have preferences on the types of toys like some cats prefer flying toys vs ground toys and some dogs like squeaky or crunchy toys over silent ones

I leave new toys out or hang them for my sun conure and he just goes to them on his own and interacts. If he likes it, he makes a mess lol so cute!
