Zillow gives realtors leads that they would not otherwise get. Thus the fee. 40% is outrageous though. But then 6% to sell a house is also outrageous.

I learned that the first time I clicked on "Contact Agent". You have to scroll down and find where it says in small print the listing agent's name. Very frustrating as a buyer.

It might not “support” the realtor but it empowers the purchaser. Many realtors have taken advantage of consumers with huge fees and gatekeeping for far too long.

Most agents do not pay 40% to Zillow. That is the flex program. Most pay for advertising on zips and pay zero per transaction.

I always say these lead platforms are expensive. Brokers don’t care because they don’t lose as much considering the commission splits between agent and broker; they make it in volume of sales.

That 40% is not true. I'm a Zillow premiere agent I never pay Zillow a percentage of the my compensation. Not sure about your state but in mind the client can opt out of that.

Not really true, Zillow doesn’t get near that amount of the commission, that said Zillow Zucks. Realtors do pay Zillow for leads but not 40%. Realtors can choose not activate the IDX
