Finally posting the Post Credits scene from The Spider by @Andy Chen . I think I've waited long enough for spoilers at this point to post my full work lol This was such a fun creature to make. Half Physical Half Digital Shot 1 Mostly Practical (Mask by me, suit by Alen Stubbs) with digital Pincers Shot 2 Practical Mask, Digital Body Shots 3 and 4 Full CG (cut up to feel like more shots) We wanted things to feel authentic as possible, and I love making masks, so we decided to make a real mask for this one complete with moving jaw and pincer mechanics. We didn't get the amount of coverage we needed for the shot for it to feel terrifying enough, so we at 1st were going to do a wide shot instead of these glorious close ups. I had never done a legit CG creature before so I wasn't confident in making it look good in CG. But I had sculpted the mask in VR, meaning I had a highly detailed 3D model already. I placed the 3D mask in thinking I was going to do the wide, slapped a creature texture on it, then was like, wait a minute, this looks almost as good as the Mask aside from the color variation... We tested some angles and decided to do close ups to make the audience uncomfortable. We luckily had shot practically, so I had the perfect reference of what the CG version should look like. This allowed us to have a lot of fun and actually plan out more shots than originally intended because of our restraints. This mask/CG creature is the thing I'm most proud of that I made. The VR sculpt was relatively quick, but the Mask took about 6 months to full test and get the pincers working right. I've always wanted to make cool creatures and now this has opened the door to me making another crazy creature for a scene in our upcoming Feature Film @another.the.film . I have many cool ideas I want to try out going forward and even though the ideas I have usually lead to months of nonstop hard work, the final result is always more than worth it. Live your dream. Never stop creating. Handcraft everything. and Always push everything to the next level. Shot at Cinepacks Studios #mask #creature #sculpt #movingjawmask #unrealengine
