3 Exfoliating Mistakes You Might Be Making 1. Using too strong of a product: for some reason people think the stronger something is, the better your results will be and you’ll see them faster… but that isn’t necessarily true. Ive seen people buying TCA off Amazon/eBay and getting severe burns from it. These peels are not a game, it can cause irreversible reactions if done wrong. 2. Exfoliating daily: i still fight people and brands on a daily basis about exfoliating daily. You don’t have to, in fact, you really shouldn’t either. 3x a week is plenty for leave on products. If it’s in a cleanser, generally speaking you can do it a bit more, but it’s also not necessary to be exfoliating daily. 3. This is going to be a general guide on how to choose the right exfoliant. With that being said, some people like exfoliants for concerns not listed… At the end of the day, if it works for you, crack on. Glycolic Acid: best for people with oily skin, non-sensitive skin, and hyperpigmentation. Lactic acid: best for people with dry skin, sensitive skin. Lactic acid is a humectant so it will draw moisture into the skin Salicylic acid: oily skin, pimples, blackheads, white heads. Sometimes can be too drying for dry skin, but it all comes down to the individual product. Scrubs (physical exfoliant): typically best for people without acne. Stay away from fruit/nut shell exfoliants such as walnut scrubs or apricot scrubs. Enzymes: this is a tricky one because sometimes enzyme peels can be very strong and not suitable for sensitive skin, but generally speaking they work well for people with dry skin. There are several other types of exfoliants, but those are the basic ones. #exfoliate #exfoliateyourskin #exfoliation #exfoliatingmistakes #skincaremistakes #skincaretips #SkinCare101 #skincaretiktok
