Looking it up, 209 EV are currently in the compact. An additional 50 state governments are considering it. Would just need 11 EV more. If we could get WI & NH onboard, that’s the 273.

I'm not american and I'll find US election system very confusing 😅 I'm sure there is a reason for it but why is it like that? Why you just don't count all the votes and that's it?

Imo split electoral votes based on % of ppl who vote for whatever candidate. so small rural states don't get disenfranchised, but neither do ppl who don't vote the same as the rest of the state

If they kept the electoral college but instead of each state being winner take all, they split the votes based on the popular vote like some states do already, it would make all votes matter

I'm from EU and it's quite difficult to me to understand US vote system with EC... and something I don't get: the EC members are obligated to vote for the candidate that wins in their state?

jesus, even what they are explaining is complicated, less complicated than the electoral college but still complicated. can't the americans have a president elected on two rounds of the popular vote like basically every other country that has a popularly elected president 😭

I can rationalize the EC for states with less people for economic policies, as they wouldn't have a big enough impact, could get left behind. Social and foreign policies? Yeah, the President should be listening to the majority of the country's preferences.
