well when I wrestled in high school, you could not bring your arm back then forward with the crossface so if I was the ref I probably would have stopped and awarded a point to the wrestler on bottom

That cross face was illegal tho at least in the rule set I used to play in. You can’t wind up at all whatever position your arm is in before the cross face is where you have to start the forwardmotion
