You can easily buy devices that disable AFM. Usually around 100.00 and 2 minute install. Reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

I haven’t had to put a transmission but I had to put a motor in it due to a lifter collapsing because of the active fuel management

You fail to do maintenance at the dealer that’s the heavy price you paid. There is bulletin to fix the problem. They are good trucks.
