What I've found is that New Yorkers are in defense mode all the time. They're prepared for crazy and angry so they're on guard and combative always.

Agreed, it’s a myth! Here 20 years now. NYers are always helping eachother: on the subway stairs, chasing someone down the street to return an item that they dropped, holding doors. I’ve seen it all!

We are def friendly - and forthright and transparent. Across America I’ve seen a lot of “politeness” followed by trash talking when a back is turned. I’ll take NYC friendly any day! 🤭😝
