@laurengalinskyportraits: I’m so confused because it sounds like growling but he’s being super affectionate and calm. No other animals in the room. It doesn’t seem like purring because I don’t feel the vibrations I normally would in his throat. It’s his first day home and our other cat hasn’t made this noise unless he’s also hissing and scared. Could it just be stress? If anyone has any ideas, let me know! We’re super excited to welcome him to our fam ❤️

Growling could definitely be from stress or possibly even pain from petting certain places on his body. If it’s not a normal behavior I would take him to a vet just to be sure. Definitely growling.
