He noted that the knowledge and skills acquired during the course should be translated into practice to enhance mission effectiveness. He also acknowledged the dedication and sacrifices made by officers in safeguarding the nation's security, emphasising that their commitment does not go unnoticed. In his remarks, Dr. Ed Barnett highlighted that the training is being delivered under a five-year strategic partnership framework between the Governments of Kenya and the United Kingdom. He noted that the collaboration has strengthened the long-standing relationship with the Border Police Unit (BPU) and will continue to enhance the capacity of officers to effectively address evolving regional security challenges through professional skills development. The four-week course covered key areas including tactical intelligence capability, medical resilience, marksmanship, Counter-IED awareness, and defensive capability. Speaking during the ceremony, the Regional Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, Lt. Col. Kenny Craig, reflected on his operational experience in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Ireland, Kuwait and Bosnia, among other missions. He emphasised that proper training, coupled with the effective utilisation of available resources and equipment, is fundamental to mission success.
