🥊 3 clever ways to punish someone who keeps defending your kicks! Here are 3 drills demonstrated at Sitjapho Gym that show how you can exploit your opponent's defensive reactions. 1️⃣ kick into cross 👊 This works against both a check and a Dutch block, but is particularly effective against the latter, as your opponent brings their hands away from their face to defend the kick. The key here is that the kick doesn't need to be powerful. You can throw a light, slappy kick simply to draw out their defensive reaction. The kick is the distraction, while the cross is the main shot, thrown as you retract your kicking leg. 2️⃣ fake kick into teep 🦶 If your opponent keeps checking your kicks, use that against them! Fake the body kick to draw out their check, then fire the teep whilst they're balancing on one leg. With their base compromised, even a relatively light teep can have a huge effect, disrupting their balance and sending them backwards. 3️⃣ question mark kick 🎯 Once you've established your body kick and your opponent begins anticipating it, you can exploit that expectation. Show the same initial kicking motion, but redirect the kick upstairs, catching them expecting a body kick. 💡 The underlying principle: Don't just recognise that your opponent is defending your techniques. Pay attention to HOW they're defending them, and learn to exploit those reactions. 🥊 Follow @singhmuaythai for more Muay Thai breakdowns! #muaythai #UFC #mma #striking #kickboxing
