In places like Utah (or a lot of places), there really isn’t a good substitute for the strong community that can envelope a person or a family. Some of us choose to stay for those benefits as well.

I think it may have to do with ordinances. As far as history, some don’t believe Joseph had a million wives. The RLDS faith, (Joseph’s family, including his wife), denied his polygamy.
