@pepper.steps: maybe being neurodivergent has it’s perks eh? 😉 in this video, i explore the America the Beautiful- The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Access Pass! this pass allows disabled individuals free entry at national parks, state parks, national monuments and… over 2000 (YEP) federally protected areas! i thought this would be valuable to share because i only recently got my pass. and before i was diagnosed with autism and only had an ADHD diagnosis, i would have never thought to ask. remember that accommodations like this exist to help us disabled folks to access the same opportunities as non-disabled folks. so don’t be afraid to ask! happy steppin’! - pepper #nature #adhd #autism #nationalparks #audhd #neurodivergent #Hiking #nationalmonuments #stateparks #disability #DidYouKnow #adhdtips #autismtips #Outdoors #Hiking #travel #camping #funfact
I have ADHD, but I feel like I should still be paying for the parks. 🤷🏼♀️

as an ADHDer gotta be honest bro this feels like a situation where we’re making personal exceptions to avoid communal responsibility for the upkeep of our few protected ecosystems that are now more than ever at a high risk of losing that protection. Everybody has their personal circumstances but even with ADHD and/or autism, if you can afford to fork over $35 for a park pass or $80 for ALL parks for a whole year, or you get involved with local trail crews and donate your time and effort to do trail/park maintenance if money isn’t an option, do that. The administration wants to take our parks away. Our neurodivergent friends deserve to enjoy the natural splendor, but it is up to us to protect it and this and the parks service/USFS are some of the very few government services we should actually NOT be trying to game.

I have ADHD and I feel like it's not exactly intended for us. getting this pass would feel like taking food drive food just because I technically can.

My friend and I both have ADHD and I have ulcerative colitis which is also covered under the ADA and they said they weren't even allowed to ask us the nature of our disability and just gave us cards!

i am so grateful for this pass. i am upset by the people not considering invisible disabilities in the comments though; i have an invisible disability and i already feel judged by rangers sometimes, and yall in the comments just confirmed that. my disability is just as valid as anyone else’s, and you shouldn’t make me feel like it’s not.

I went viral for this exact post and some of the comments were toxic as hell. if you can pay, do it. if you can donate, park rangers say that those funds are used more discretionally and are preferred

i work at a park and have several mental illnesses that would be recognized as disabilities but i still say you should pay the gate fee if you can afford to its the only way the state parks get funded

No cause you know what, some people have “adhd” (man I just can’t focus), and there’s people who have ADHD (sometimes debilitating, makes everything in your life wildly difficult, nightmare…). So why not use this resource to enjoy exercise, nature, and education in hands on forms all of which improve symptoms, quality of life, and help people with adhd learn more! I know everyone has their own take though.
