Arum, how do I hire you to walk around a museum with me and translate most if not all the ancient texts we see? 😁

could you explain why the OE "sk" became "sh" across lots of different words? I know it's due to viking influence but so what's the phonological process there from Proto-Germanic to the 2 languages?

Is there a linguistic reason why English speakers say numbers like ‘15 hundred’ instead of ‘1 thousand 5 hundred’? I’m curious how this structure developed (I’m not a native)

You’ve made me curious about how languages evolve and where they come from. Do you have any content on Native American languages? Or maybe some casual reading suggestions?

my native Malay dialect in Sumatra is going through this process right now, when nouns become definite, the marker "-i" will force the vowels in the noun to the front and then got omitted, for example "ikan" (fish) and will turn to "ikani" (the fish) which mostly pronounced in everyday speech as "ikæn/iken"

Related but unrelated: if the plural of octopus is octopi, would the singular of Levi be Levus? lol

Same in Swedish. One goose - en gås. Two geese - två gäss. One sheep - ett får. Two sheep - två får.
