The majority of the core values I hold today are a result of learning the teachings of Jesus at an early age. I learned to love my neighbor, not judge them. I learned that hope is more valuable than any sum of money. That telling your truth, whether people accept it or not, will set you free. That everyone deserves love. To be childlike; to be curious and kind and welcome new people and ideas into my heart like I’m learning to live for the first time every day. I was being taught these things, but not seeing them reflected in the lives of those teaching me. Not seeing it reflected in Christian culture around the country or the world. If you can be bothered to read the book you claim is your life’s doctrine, maybe you’ll also realize that Jesus was the extreme leftist of his day. That he served the poor and broken and lost and marginalized and oppressed, and cursed those who kept them in those positions. That he would have NEVER told anyone they didn’t have a right to stay, a right to live freely without worry of judgement, without peace, without food, water, shelter, without unconditional love.
