@thenewsmovement: Man City’s Rodri and Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati won the most prestigious individual award in football, the Ballon d’Or, last night. For Bonmati it is her second Ballon d’Or in a row. The 26 year old Catalan won every trophy available to her this year. Rodri, whose full name is Rodrigo Hernández Cascante, won the award in controversial fashion. The 28 year old pipped Real Madrid duo Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham to the award. No players or staff from Real Madrid attended the ceremony. Vincius Junior tweeted after, stating, “I'll do it 10x if I have to. They're not ready.” A statement from Real Madrid reported by the Spanish newspaper AS said that “it is clear that Ballon d'Or does not respect Real Madrid. Real Madrid does not go where it is not respected.” Rodri hobbled onto the stage at the award ceremony after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in September.  "I would like to thank the most important person in the world for me, my girlfriend Laura.
