@floriangadsby: This has been my life for the past few days, wiping the bases of pots, tidying up their walls, grinding down tong marks and the worst of the craters that cover the surface, although I’m still not sure I need to do this? It’s about time I do a test.   Surprisingly, I find this process more painful than throwing or trimming pots, (in terms of its effects on the body), all that clinching with my hands on the powdery, fragile surface, holding the vessels firmly enough so I can work on their, whilst NEVER rubbing the surface as that creates thin patches. It’s this gripping for hours on end that is what begins to hurt, it’s an ache really, but it must be done.   Lastly, I always work over a basin of water that catches a majority of the glaze dust, a mask is worn too when I’m cleaning for longer stints and it’s this that’s the worst part of the job.
