@c4news: Marek Marzec is a Polish stonemason who came to this country in search of work thirteen years ago. He found it - in the cutting rooms of kitchen worktop suppliers. Now he's lying in a hospital bed and dying - his lungs ravaged by fatal silicosis caused by the dust he breathed in whilst he shaped lengths of engineered stone to order. His case is far from the only one. It's thought hundreds of workers are at risk as many suppliers fail to install proper protective measures. #Silicosis #ToxicSilicosis #Kitchens #KitchenWorktop #Channel4News #C4news

I worked for this exact company 4 years ago. Before the ventilation was installed you could barely see the person next to you from the dust.

okay Stonery - so why is he dying from toxic kitchen worktop dust then? did this just magically happen? or do you think it has something to do with the job he had with your business

Cutting any kind of stone or concrete without protection will cause this. It doesn't have anything to do with these stove tops.

Safety and Wellbeing.... Not sure about this company but most of them keep workers on the edge saying H&S is important on the other hand pressurizing them to work faster and faster.

Surely these worktops can be cut in enclosed spaces by machines only and don't shouldn't involve humans doing it.
