I don’t think it’s selfish, it’s just the way they know. They may not do the same today. I still highly appreciate them. In Africa they serve the adults in the family before the kids when they cook

My great grandparents sandwiched five daughters into their one bedroom, post WWII house. So When the first of her videos popped up, I felt empathy. I grew up dirt poor, living with my grandparents and parents, it’s what I knew for most of my life. But EVERYONE’s motto going back generations was “Give your children a better life than you had.” There isnt that sort of thinking going on here
