You touched on this a bit - loving yourself can come in waves, you’re not always going to be 100% confident or love yourself all day everyday, forever.

Can you react to kelsea ballerini’s new album? Lots of therapy language in it especially the song patterns and two things

i def agree! i think it’s also important to KNOW yourself. speaking from experience, not having a solid idea of your values can lead you to completely losing yourself in a relationship

I love how you acknowledge how life can be messy and not everything will happen in perfect milestones one after the other

This has nothing to do with the video, but as a therapist, I’d love your opinion. Is there a point where it’s too late (too old) to go back and change careers to be a therapist?

Yes healing is a journey I have so much to say about this blanket statement.

Love this! If we all waited until we were “fully healed”, we’d never find love. I learn and grow with my partner and he helps me love myself more ❤️

Maybe it’s better expressed as you have to love yourself AND/WHILE/AS MUCH as you love another?

I think that statement has been grossly misinterpreted. As a therapist as well, I believe it means you can’t seek love for yourself through others. As soon as there is a perceived rejection, it reinforces your belief that you are unlovable. In a attachment/relational therapy, it makes sense to work on attachment wounds first so when you enter a relationship you’re securely attached to self, and can be in a healthy relationship with another without depending on their love as validation that you are lovable. I also think you have to put skills and growth into practice and you have to be in a relationship to do that 🙃

Yes & no, it’s both. I definitely think you should be actively working on loving yourself and make improvements everyday to be able to love someone & show up in a relationship as genuine as possible
