No mineral oil!!! Raised chickens for years. Eggs have a membrane around them called a 'bloom' or 'cuticle'. This keeps bacteria out. Grocery bought eggs have been washed so need to be refrigerated.

Eggs have a natural bloom cover that protect the egg. Don't wash until you want to use some eggs and then yes wash those eggs. Float any egg in water to make sure it's good.

I tried water glassing the eggs (they will last up to 25 years this way) and had very positive results.

in the late 70s I worked gathering eggs for a company called Mahard egg farm in oklahoma and we sprayed the eggs with mineral oil as we gathered them
