I have never recovered from my partner of 13 years dying. am I the better option? I'm still alive. I get to try for happiness again. but I hurt. life is duller. for him it would have been harder.

2nd, I was with my bf for 8yrs... it's been a year now even before he died I wanted to be 2nd because I don't want anyone to be hurting when I'm gone. idk, I'm trying to think what to put something funny and dark before I go to work lol

Depends on if one'll get more comfort not being alone again or knowing their lover didn't have to be alone again. A solipsistic person would say the former; an altruistic person would say the latter.
