@crazykoreancooking: Agoo jjim (Spicy Braised Monkfish) is one of my favorite Korean dishes. Monkfish has a very interesting and delicious texture and is full of collagen. Americans call it poor man's lobster because the flavor and texture resembles lobster (although I think it's quite different). Monkfish was not always popular in Korea. Fishermen used to throw them away thinking it brings back luck due to its scary appearance (definitely Halloween worthy). But during and after the Korean war, food was scarce and people started to eat the fish. Over the years, they started adding various seasonings and eventually this spicy braised dish was born in the city of Masan, Korea.
