I feel like that stipend is reasonable if it were given to bio families to help them keep their kids, it’s less reasonable when we ask strangers to help a child start their life over with that amount

I’m an Oregon foster parent. The tutoring my foster child needed (because she was 2 years behind due to poor attendance) is $500 a month. That’s half the stipend right there.

In my state the reimbursement is among the most generous in the nation but only about half of the rate for daycare. Sometimes there is a shortage of families who can/will take babies because 1/

Ugh- as an ex foster kid, don't get me started on the money part of it. 1 family took me in for their whole income. Another family had 6 foster kids at a time for the money. It's a sore spot for me.

We get less than half of that per child 😳. Ours goes to therapy and her cell phone bill. That’s it. (Teen fm) we don’t do it for the money though and cover all other expenses out of pocket ❤️

It is much lower in other states and much higher in others. I had a client that received $2k a month in NY.
