In Afghan food, we fry white onions til they turn soft then cook the main part of the dish (eg, chicken). I wonder if we could use shallot instead because of the lower water content in them🤔

Isn’t funny in my household in Australia.. your yellow onion we call our brown onion and the red onion and is what I call a Spanish onion, shallots are still shallots haha love it,
