I think the steady decline is due to Bally Sports networks screwing over viewers and being removed from cable packages multiple times over multiple years for many teams. 1/2

Really need to use the luxury tax salaries in examining payrolls. It gives a more accurate representation of the payroll and accounts for deferred money.
