Are speed camera detectors legal in the UK? What are Jammers and warning devices? How do they operate? What Does the Law Say ? We are answering all these questions in this video. Let's clarify 2 things. When it comes to speed camera detectors. We have Jammers and warning devices. The first set of devices are Jammers which are devices that jam or interfere with speed detection devices operated by police officers, thereby preventing them from taking a reading. Jammers are unlawful or not legal and you could face prosecution for perverting the course of justice, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment for obstructing the police. The second set of devices are warning devices. These type of devices that only provide information about camera site locations are lawful in the UK. However, note that if you go abroad even these types of detectors may be unlawful. You will need to check what the legislation is in the country you are travelling to. Do not assume that because it's lawful in the uk , then it's lawful elsewhere. Conclusively, There are no laws banning speed camera detectors in the UK at the moment, although they are illegal (even as a built-in feature of your sat-nav) in many countries in Europe.  Speed camera detectors let users know where speed cameras can be found as they travel. They tend to come in two forms; devices designed to sit on dashboards, or through route planning apps on smartphones. The detectors use GPS technology to manually update speed camera locations through their own experience, or by downloading online data. But Jammers that ‘block’ the signal from police speed cameras are against the law in the UK and many other countries, and using one could see you slapped with massive fines.  So, while speed camera detectors especially the warning devices are legal in the UK, it's always best to drive safely and within the speed limits That's all for today's topic.
