@domesticblisters: Messiness is not a moral failing. Sometimes some small environmental changes can make all the difference #HowtoKeepHouseWhileDrowning
It’s funny that we can see things so differently. The shoe bucket gives me anxiety because I can’t see all of the shoes at once.

My literal nightmare 😑 I need to hide away as much as possible, otherwise the visual clutter will drive me insane.

I did the shoe baskets one year. And stopped when I realized some shoes (my $140 Docs) were covered in mold because my husband and kids threw their wet and muddy shoes on top. I now have my OWN space.

people saying this looks messy don't get that the alternative is having things thrown on the floor and every surface

If something is high effort to get out, I will never see it again, but I’m glad that works for you 😂

Confused about the shoes. If it’s high effort to take out, that’s incentivizing NOT putting it away (so it’s easier to access next time). Wouldn’t you want low effort put away AND low effort take out?

Replacing my dresser with an ikea cube unit with baskets was a GAME CHANGER for my adhd. Don’t listen to the people who don’t get it.

It’s always so interesting to see how everyone lives and thinks differently. I love that everyone is very pro-their own space. I am looking forward to the end of “aesthetic”.

personally I can't live with open storage with no doors even if I have objects permanence bc it looks too overwhelming but I understand that a lot of people choose to not "hide" their things

I would never wear the shoes at the bottom of the bin again because I would simply forget they existed.

How are baskets of shoes less effort than having them on little shelves? You have to dig through a basket of shoes to find the ones you need. That sounds like more effort than putting them on a rack.

Hey! I just want to thank you for validating the idea of paying for help with things that challenge you. I got a laundry service for the first time and it’s going to change my life (and marriage!)
