@maliandjoe: Replying to @ugotafupa In response to the judgment, labeling, and condemnation thrown our way just because one person assumed Joe was gay and we simply clarified that he’s not, it’s clear we’ve hit a nerve. While our experience here has been eye-opening, we realize it’s just a small glimpse into the endless, unwarranted judgments and hostility that people in the LGBTQ+ community face every day. It’s truly heartbreaking. This experience has deepened our respect and compassion for everyone who has to deal with this, not just in passing, but as a constant backdrop to their lives. No one should have to justify who they are, and everyone deserves to be respected without being put under the harsh lens of others’ prejudices. We stand in solidarity with those who must continually fight for the acceptance they deserve. We also want to thank all of you who have shown us such incredible support and positivity amidst this strange wave of criticism. Your kindness and encouragement mean more than you know. For every unkind word, there’s been an overwhelming amount of love, and it’s a reminder of the goodness and open-mindedness that exists in this world.
