I've successfully used fertility awareness as birth control for six years, and I still remember what an absolute mind f*ck it was to go from trusting the pill... to trusting my own body. When I first came off hormonal birth control, I knew two things: → I didn't want to be on the pill anymore. → I definitely didn't want to get pregnant. Those two things felt completely incompatible because everything I'd ever been taught made it seem like using your cycle as birth control was reckless. It wasn't until I started learning an actual evidence based fertility awareness method that I realized I'd been believing a lot of things that simply weren't true. So here are the five things I had to unlearn before I finally trusted charting my cycle. 1. I had to unlearn that ovulation happens on the same day every cycle. That's the idea behind the Rhythm Method, which predicts your fertile window based on previous cycles and is no more than 75% effective. Effective forms of Fertility awareness works differently because it never assumes that ovulation happens on the same day but instead goes off of real time data (like cervical mucus changes and basal body temperature) 2. I had to unlearn the idea that that my body was "random." Your body actually gives you observable signs that ovulation is approaching… we just aren't taught how to read the language. Cervical mucus, for example, is one of the most important biomarkers to track because the changes you see are a direct reflection of your hormones estrogen and progesterone. 3. I had to unlearn that my period app knew more about my body than I did. Period trackers make educated guesses based on past cycles and are basically the rhythm method. The fertile window that period app gives you should NOT be trusted. 4. I had to unlearn that tracking my cycle and using fertility awareness as birth control were the same thing. Tracking gives you information, which is great for symptom awareness… but a fertility awareness method gives you evidence-based rules to interpret that information and make decisions about getting intimate! 5. I had to unlearn that fertility awareness is about predicting ovulation. It isn't!!!! It's about identifying your fertile window, confirming when ovulation has happened, and making decisions based on what your body is actually doing… not what you hoped it was going to do or what you think it “should” be doing”. If you want to use your body as birth control, but aren’t sure you can trust it… that’s what I’m here for 🫶🏻

Note: I kept the tabs simple for this tutorial. Feel free to add extra strumming wherever it fits to make it sound fuller and closer to the original. The One You Love - Glenn Frey #ukulelecover #ukuleletutorial #ukuleletabs #creatorsearchinsights #CapCut
