I think people like to take the self defense classes instead of enrolling in a gym because the classes are short term. so they like to believe they can learn how to defend themselves in a weekend

Agree 100% in self defense =violent. Fighting is violent. The best things I ever took was boxing, judo, and a kemp instructor based teaching on real life vs the art part, and lots of sparring
