as a landlords kid I've seen my parents make deals where they clean up or fix things and their rent was so cheap and the renters had freedom to do so much we kept longterm renters

I pay much lower rent because we basically rented as is & had to change the entire wiring, we are both electricians, & some other things. I gladly pay less for a bit of labour I can easily do.

Nice. I know someone who fixed up her rental but the landlord raised her rent because he could get more rent from a new tenant with it fixed up She hd to pay more or move. 🥺
