@bite: Greenwashing can be easier to spot once you know what to look for. Read on to learn 5 ways a product might not be as sustainable as it seems. 🟢 The product is literally green, or has natural imagery (like flowers, or it looks like bamboo but is really plastic). Color is a powerful tool in marketing, and people usually associate the color green with sustainability. 📦 It’s a plastic-free product but is shipped in plastic packaging. Kind of defeats the purpose, right? 🏭 It’s a huge corporation that has a “green” or “conscious” product line. Or it’s a brand with a parent company who may care more about profits than the planet. 😐 It’s “refillable” …but the refills come in plastic. We’re trying to eliminate single-use plastic, not create more of it! 🗯️ It uses buzz words like “Cruelty-Free and Vegan” without being backed up by a third party certification. Check for the official cruelty-free logos on the packaging. With the rise of conscious consumers, more and more marketing efforts will be aimed at making products seem more sustainable than they really are. Our best advice is to do a little digging when it comes to products — it will become clear which companies say they’re sustainable and have the actions to back it up. #greenwashing #Sustainability #EcoFriendly #plasticfree #carbonneutral #SmallBusiness #marketing #zerowaste #creatorsearchinsights
