when I had chickens, I'd sit them on my lap and help their keratin sheaths flake off, they'd usually fall asleep, I miss my girls 🥰😭 chickens love the preening too 💙

This has probably been answered before but I don’t see it so, do birds NEED assistance with preening? Or is it just something that you CAN do when you’re taking care of a bird? Do they struggle alone?
