@skyehitchcock: I don’t even know what to say besides WE DID IT!!!! this may not be as exciting to you guys as it is to us but this has been a 3 year goal that has completely changed our lives in the best way possible.. OUR LITTLE FAMILY SPENT 1000 HOURS OUTSIDE IN 2024!!! let’s go back to the beginning.. It all started in December 2021, I was genuinely at a loss. I was desperate for my kids to be happy. it was constant screaming, crying, fighting. which was very unlike them. I couldn’t figure out what I was doing “wrong”. They were eating well, in sports/school, had plenty of toys, both parents home and spending time with them.. & then a video popped up on my instagram of a family sharing their journey of spending more time outside & how it positively affected their kids. It was in that moment I realized we hadn’t ACTUALLY played outside in weeks because of the freezing temps and snow on the ground. Why would I bundle up 3 toddlers to play outside for only 15 minutes? But that’s exactly what we started doing. We made it a goal to spend 1000 hours outside in 2022, failed. tried again in 2023, failed. and in 2024?! WE DID IT!!!! the thing is, even the years we failed, we really didn’t. We made huge strides of progress. starting with our moods, almost instantly there was a shift in behavior! It was like magic. and then the memories we made? priceless! hundreds and hundreds of hours spent together under the sky. I have never regretted a single moment of spending time outdoors with my kids. and my hope with sharing our journey the last few years is to inspire just ONE person to go outside when maybe they typically wouldn’t.
