That's so wild because in book, it's made expressly clear that none of the kids die. In the original film, it's vague, but more or less assumed everyone is alive, if changed, by the end.

agree that young children should not see this BUT even in dahl’s tamer works, his style of absurdist body horror is kind of always present— this and minchin’s matilda really capture that, imo.

I’d be so down for an animated musical this dark. Roald Dahl had incredibly dark stories. So this checks for how he wishes he could have published it tbh 😂
