Although I liked the movie, I think they missed the opportunity to develop a real plot twist in the end, such as the defendant actually being guilty the whole time, or if the main character did it on purpose or something. JK simmons could have had a bigger role in this development.

Was I the only one who interpreted the ending as she wanted to defend him?? How did everyone miss that?!!? Like duh she knew as soon as she googled him and they had that conversation outside on the bench. She showed up to this house to say she wants to defend him!
