I want my kid to get straight As in school more than he does. Isn’t that the same concept?

I’m the A**hole that took lessons from my kids this week because they don’t want to practice outside of lessons. I definitely feel I want it for than them.

My daughter was the fastest on her coed team and top goal scorer. She said she didn’t want to play anymore and do dance only. I think my wanting her to be happy far supersedes success in sports.

It’s always ‘you did this well, but can improve on this and I liked the way you did this’ it’s never ‘why did you do that or we’ve been working on that why are you still doing it that way’

As parents, we should be striving for our children to accomplish more than we have.

My nine year old got a late start. I just watched his face light up after his first clean ground ball in practice. I felt like I won the WS. I want him to have fun

Hit the nail on the head, it’s how the parents act on those feelings and emotions.

The very thin line is the balance bt wanting it for them and avoiding making them not want it at all anymore.

I ALWAYS felt like I wanted it more than my kid…and then he hit a game winning grand slam in Cooperstown. Then his whole attitude changed and he fell in love with the work.

Seeing them fight through adversity is some of those biggest moments to be proud of. Yes, it’s awesome to see them play great.. but man to overcome the possible negative voice in their head.. huge.

I'm glad you are saying this because my son is playing college baseball and when he steps on the field or at the plate there will be tears of joy and pride

You have to be able to give a little criticism but follow it up with direction. I love this approach with my nephew and his pitching. I can’t wait until my daughter is old enough for softball.

It’s also how you speak to the kids after they struggle fail for example kid strikes out swinging on a high pitch instead of being like u struck out try hey wasn’t a strike but love the aggressiveness

Yeah man. Agree completely. It’s the parents that go too far tho, Constantly running to the dugout. Overly critical of coaches, overly critical of their player.

Yes!! Kids’ successes also happen because of the support of the parents. We pay for the lessons, encourage our players, invest so much we want them to succeed. 🥰

Do something similar with my daughter. 3 things she could improve on and 3 things she did great each game. And we always end with the good…reminds her she did great but there’s always still work to do
