Apparently you cna buy bundles of actual random books sorted by color for decor. Best of both worlds. Real books, but withe the aesthetic you're after. Might find a hidden gem too.

Spouse of a major book person here. Look at decorative sets, often the singles or pairs from the set can be found well under retail. I spend $10-$15 on Penguin softbound classics.
