@the_ladyplumber: These Grundfos ALPHA Comfort System pumps are incredibly easy to install and solve such an annoying issue of waiting for that hot water to reach your fixtures. You do not need a dedicated line for this style of pump as it uses a thermal bypass valve to cycle the hot water back through your cold water line. The ALPHA HWR pump is another pump on this ALPHA Range that is used when you have a dedicated line available. This pump also has an integrated temperature sensor and timer, eliminating the need for external installations. Both pumps are equipped with dry-run protection that shuts the pump down if there is no water detected. If troubleshooting is required, there is digital troubleshooting guided through Bluetooth. They also have a built-in AUTOADAPT setting that allows the pump to adapt to the installed system. Another feature is the display and touch user interface of the ALPHA HWR, which helps identify any issues with settings, such as insufficient flow. And don’t forget about the Grundfos GO App, which has guided setups and allows you to set schedules, troubleshoot issues, analyze historical trend data, and perform firmware updates. If the residence is prone to outages, no need to worry as the Bluetooth timer doesn't require a reset after power loss. So pretty much, these pumps have come a long way and having one installed is a no-brainer! Teflon is not thread sealant. Teflon keeps the pipes from rusting together, not to block leaks.

I installed it in my home and it’s the worst thing I could’ve done. It pushed the hot water back into my hot water heater through my cold water line , causing it to break.

All rec pumps no matter if it’s installed when the home is built or you install this pump and put the check valve on the fixture furthest from the water heater it’s going to give you warm cold water

I work in a building with multiple kitchens/bars 50'+ apart each. The return line for the pump needs its own separate line back towards the water heater's cold line. Not like the picture shown here..

It’s way better to have one with a recirculating line. They do increase your electric bill.

The bypass has a piece of metal in it that is temperature sensitive and blocks off the hot water from continuing to bypass into the cold. This prevents hot water from constantly being fed into the

Has anyone ever did the relationship between energy cost and water costs? My belief a lot water goes down the drain waiting for hot to arrive.and definitely makes sense on holding systems.
