Y'all this is GREAT but will the brackets not just fall down if the strap gets loose??? What if you flipped the brackets so that even if they do get loose they'll sag instead of falling?

Flip the brackets and set on top of. The weight will press into the bottom and pillar. Plus won’t slip through. Hit bottom with top mdf.

I definitely wouldn't trust it for a TV, but a shelf for some decoration looks surprisingly good and secure. I'd still double check the straps every week or so at first then increase the time between

That is great! I might have added some double-sided carpet tape or a strip of cheap rubbery under-carpet mat between the pillar and the brackets for added peace of mind too.

WHY DID YOU ONLY DO ONE SHELF?! 3, 2 full circle shelves and then the two half's that way the third could have gone toward the bottom of that poll. Now they gotta go have 2 more shelves made for that!

there are way better options than ratchet straps.... they aren't meant to be long term. and definitely should have flipped the mounts... but it does look purdy 😂
